6 Days – Marangu Route

Following breakfast, trek towards Horombo hut, maintaining a steady pace to acclimate gradually to the altitude gain. Arrive at camp by mid-afternoon for relaxation, allowing further adjustment to the altitude. Enjoy a night at Horombo Hut (full board).

Today focuses on acclimatization with a hike to higher altitudes, offering stunning views of the Mawenzi volcano and the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. Return to Horombo hut in the afternoon for relaxation. Overnight at Horombo Hut (full board).

Begin early for the final hut before the summit attempt, progressing slowly through the alpine zone towards Kibo. Arrive at Kibo hut by mid-afternoon to rest before the evening ascent. Enjoy an early dinner and rest before the nighttime departure for the summit. Overnight at Kibo Hut (full board).

Start the ascent before midnight, aiming for the peak. The night-time start offers firmer scree sections and the best chance of a clear summit attempt. Reach Gilman’s Point, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Descend via the same route, stopping briefly at Kibo hut for refreshments. Descend to Horombo hut for dinner and an overnight stay. Overnight at Horombo Hut (full board).

Descend through the heath zone and forest to the Marangu gate. Enjoy a farewell lunch prepared by your team before departing. Bid farewell to your mountain staff before heading to a nearby hotel for a farewell dinner or overnight stay.
