7 Days Lemosho Route

Ascend from the forested slopes through Podocarpus and Juniper forests to the heath zone and Shira Plateau. Lunch is served en route, reaching Shira 1 Camp by mid-afternoon.

After a moderate hike and altitude gain, reach Shira 2 Camp for lunch. This day offers acclimatization with the option of an afternoon walk guided by your team.

Ascend into the alpine desert, optionally visiting Lava Tower before descending to Barranco Camp for lunch. Lunch is taken en route. This is a long but rewarding day for acclimatization.

Departing Barranco camp, renowned for its towering Senecio species, you'll climb the Barranco wall and trek through glacial valleys to Karanga camp. Lunch is enjoyed in the Karanga Valley before continuing to Barafu in the afternoon. Despite the desolate alpine desert and occasional strong winds, evenings at Barafu offer magnificent views of Mawenzi Peak. An early dinner precedes a well-deserved rest for the night at Barafu Camp.

The majority typically set off just before midnight for the ultimate summit attempt. Patience and determination are crucial to reaching the summit, and as the first light of dawn breaks, most reach near the rim. Climbing via Stella Point offers a relatively brief final stretch to Uhuru Peak, the Roof of Africa! Today's objective is to reach Mweka camp.
