9 Days Lemosho Route via Kibo Crater

Ascend from the forested slopes of Lemosho through Podocarpus and Juniper forest, emerging onto the heath zone and the Shira Plateau. Lunch is enjoyed on the trail, arriving at Shira 1 Camp by mid-afternoon. Overnight at Shira 1 Camp (full board).

After a challenging hike and significant altitude gain, enjoy a shorter day's hike to Shira 2 camp, arriving in time for lunch. This day allows for acclimatization, with the option of an afternoon walk guided by our experts. Overnight at Shira 2 Camp (full board).

Experience a "walk high, sleep low" day as you ascend into the alpine desert. For the energetic, there's the option to climb up to Lava Tower before descending to Barranco camp. Lunch is provided en route, making for a long but rewarding day. Overnight at Barranco Camp (full board).

After a night in the crater, you have the quickest summit bid of all routes, just about an hour away. This makes timing your arrival with the sunrise much easier and spectacular. Descend to Mweka Gate, where a delicious lunch awaits before transfer vehicles take you back to Arusha.
